I know what COM Surrogate does and I know it's not usually troublesome. I wish I could tell you how many Malware scans I've done. The way to solve it for me at the moment is killing the COM Surrogate process. Although I do believe that IIS is not a default service to begin with and thus implying a user's need for it, when present.
