I am currently investigating to see if its a virus, or a hardware conflict (as I run several peripherals, including 2 external HDDs) will report back if I find a solution. As all computers are setup and configured differently, what might work on one machine, doesn't necessarily work on another. It was helpful to hear a sound effect whenever a menu expanded or item was pressed in the start menu. When choosing a numeric PIN, does it help or hurt to make each digit unique? It seems as if the repair installation option has been removed from Vista, so I tried "SFC /SCANNOW" to check for file integrity and it found nothing. I had the freezing problem for a while, and I couldn't understand why sometime it would work (windows media center with TV tuner, some video player, some video streaming from internet-but Vista, 2gb memory.
