IMHO the cost of downgrading would be far cheaper than getting a soundcard unless you were looking for an excuse to pick up a hi-fi grade soundcard...? I'm not sure if it's the drivers problem or the recent update for RealTek Drivers. Go back to Device Manager and once again under Sound, video and game controllers right click on Realtek and choose Uninstall from the Menu.
