This is your external Drive controller that failed to initialize and will always remain like this even after reboot... In the worst case scenario you may have to go with a data recovery company and RMA. Or it might be the integrated enclosure crossover electronics, in which case you probably have a perfectly fine drive inside the case but the enclosure electronics have failed. If I re-connect my WD supply it won't work.

Usually what it really does is read AND WRITE with many errors, possibly corrupting your drive unit's data. As Trouble stated above it should be showing as he has shown in Device Manager. I think i see you have a PCI slot USB controller. Afterall he told me that the problem is in my device, but, a week ago before another windows upgrade, i could use my hd, and today when i put it in Keep me posted!
Also shown as WD My Passport in Disk Drives in the Device Manager.
